TEAMS

Having motivated and well-structured teams within an organization that relies on volunteer work is essential to ensuring the impact of our actions. As part of a team, each volunteer gains a clearer understanding of their role, focuses their efforts on specific areas, and never loses sight of the value of their contribution to the group as a whole. On this page, you will meet the teams that brought our House to life.

Board of Directors

The Governance team, through the Board of Directors, ensures that our House operates with transparency, accountability, and full compliance with all applicable legal, ethical, and regulatory standards. Among its main responsibilities are overseeing the development, review, and updating of the internal by-laws and governance policies. In addition, the Board ensures that all decisions made by the House reflect its mission, institutional values, and the federal and provincial legislation in force in Canada and Quebec.

IT, RH and Accounting

The Operations team is responsible for overseeing our day-to-day operations, ensuring that administrative, logistical, and people management processes run efficiently and in an organized manner. This team is made up of the Information Technology (IT), Human Resources (HR), and Accounting areas, which work together to carry out our routines with efficiency and professionalism.

Social Media and Traditional Media Channels

The Communications team is responsible for planning, creating, and managing all internal and external communications in English, French, and Portuguese, always reflecting our trilingual identity. This team develops communication strategies, defines the tone of our messaging, and produces consistent, inclusive, and culturally relevant content across all our platforms. In short, the Communications team strengthens the image of our House by engaging with the public and promoting our events.

Cultural Symposium and Workshops

The Culture team plans and develops our cultural programming, celebrating the richness and diversity of artists and professionals of Brazilian origin in Canada. Its activities include organizing and moderating workshops and conversation practices, as well as promoting the Cultural Symposium and supporting our artists and presenters. The Culture team also evaluates the effectiveness of these initiatives to encourage ongoing community engagement and to reflect our mission and values.

Portuguese: Heritage Language and Foreign Language

The Pedagogy team is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing our Portuguese as a Heritage Language (PHL) and Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PFL) courses. This team ensures that all learning experiences are coherent and contextually relevant, adapting to the needs of students at various proficiency levels. Working hand in hand with Culture, the Pedagogy team promotes the appreciation of the Portuguese language and strengthens cultural connections across generations and Brazilian immigrant communities in Canada.

Annual Survey and Data Collection

The Research and Development (R&D) team produces reports and analyses that highlight the needs, contributions, and realities of the Brazilian community in Canada. This team helps our House generate accurate, evidence-based data to support program development and to inform dialogue with policymakers, private institutions, and civil society.

Local Communities

The Partnership team is responsible for identifying and strengthening promising connections with local communities, associations, sponsors, and universities to advance our mission. This team develops community engagement strategies and works to secure funding opportunities through sponsorships, donation campaigns, and collaborative initiatives, supporting the expansion of our House to new regions and audiences across Canada.
